A remarkable plant — AFAR, it's the most shade-tolerant of all houseplants that I know. Besides, it blooms in winter — the flowers are modest, but, anyway, these are flowers :).

In the lower part of the spadix are the female flowers with pistils, the rest are male flowers with stamina. I thought that it self-pollinates as it gives some berries after blooming. But not all evident things are true: I found that evergreens have a special mechanism protecting them from self-pollination. The male flowers start producing pollen only when the female flowers of the same spadix are no longer receptive to pollen. And those spontaneously appearing berries which I usually see — they are not fertile.
