Английское название вида <em>drinker</em> означает то же самое. Гусеницы травяных коконопрядов — большие любители выпить утренней росы. Более того, русские источники хором сообщают, что в отсутствие росы гусеница так страдает от абстиненции, что может выпить другую гусеницу своего вида для восполнения недостатка жидкости (<a target=_blank href=http://lepidoptera.ru/taxonomy/6301>ать</a>, <a target=_blank href=http://www.vokrugsveta.ru/encyclopedia/index.php?title=%D0%9C%D0%BE%D1%81%D0%BA%D0%BE%D0%B2%D1%81%D0%BA%D0%B0%D1%8F_%D0%BE%D0%B1%D0%BB%D0%B0%D1%81%D1%82%D1%8C>два</a>). В англоязычном нете я упоминаний об этом не нашла, но факт не кажется мне невероятным: ещё в детстве я наблюдала каннибализм у саранчей и у личинок стрекоз, да и вообще явление это в животном мире не редкое.
