Для чего он вынесен так далеко от лепестков с нектаром — ведь получается, что насекомые-опылители садятся «мимо» пыльцы и пестика и не могут его опылить?</p><p>Покопаемся: различные источники повторяют, что в тропиках многих мальвовых опыляют колибри — для них, кстати, наиболее привлекательны крупные цветки красного цвета. Возможно, что парящая у цветка колибри хвостом или головой елозит по пыльце и пестику? Вот тут пишут, что примерно так и есть: <a target=_blank href=http://shenthreedees.blogspot.com/2010/10/hummingbird-hibiscus-interaction.html>пыльца осыпается на голову птичке, пока она пьёт нектар</a>. Вот поэтому у тропического гибискуса такая странная форма. У мальвовых наших широт <a target=_blank href=http://undina-bird.ru/Galleries/tabid/56/galleryType/SlideShow/ItemID/894/Default.aspx?SearchText=(%20Malvaceae%20)>строение цветка похожее, но пестик и тычинки не вынесены так далеко</a>.</p><p>Правда, если покопаться дальше, то оказывается, что колибри живут в Америках, а китайский гибискус родом из Индокитая, и в природе колибри сроду не видал. В Индокитае и Индонезии есть другие птички, промышляющие нектаром из цветов — нектарницы (<a target=_blank href=http://www.besgroup.org/2010/03/03/crimson-sunbird-hovering-to-harvest-nectar/>иногда они даже парят, как колибри</a>). Однако упоминания о том, что нектарницы у гибискусов воруют вкусняшку, нисколько их не опыляя, попадаются гораздо чаще (например: <a target=_blank href=http://www.besgroup.org/2009/01/17/olive-backed-sunbird-robbing-hibiscus-nectar/>раз</a>, <a target=_blank href=http://www.besgroup.org/2007/11/18/hibiscus-and-nectar-harvest/>два</a>), чем <a target=_blank href=http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_8E2jfX9ow78/S5egKKQAR3I/AAAAAAAAARE/ick_e5j8-4c/s1600-h/birds-maurice-nagar+052.JPG>изображения</a>, где по  стечению обстоятельств птички всё-таки имеют шанс соприкоснуться с пыльцой, сидя на соседней ветке. В конце концов, <a target=_blank href=http://www.arkive.org/queen-alexandras-birdwing/ornithoptera-alexandrae/image-G34711.html>кто её поймёт</a>, эту окультуренную ботву. Looks like an insect visiting the flower to take some nectar will not get in touch with the pollen and pistil and thus it cannot pollinate the flower?</p><p>Let's see: different sources repeat that tropical Malvaceae are pollinated by hummingbirds — and, by the way, big red flowers are most attractive for them. Maybe a hummingbird hovering above a flower will fetch the pollen on it's head and tail? Here they say how it's happening: <i><a target=_blank href=http://shenthreedees.blogspot.com/2010/10/hummingbird-hibiscus-interaction.html>pollen sticks to its head, while the bird feeds on nectar</a>. That's why tropical hibiscus has such interesting form. In our latitudes Malvaceae <a target=_blank href=http://undina-bird.ru/Galleries/tabid/56/galleryType/SlideShow/ItemID/894/Default.aspx?SearchText=(%20Malvaceae%20)>look similar, but the pistil is shorter</a>.</p><p>Well, if we look at it again, we'll see that hummingbirds are native to Americas while the Chinese hibiscus is native to China and Malaysia. Thus, originally they have nothing to do with each other. There are some nectar-feeding birds in Indonesia, too: sunbirds (<a target=_blank href=http://www.besgroup.org/2010/03/03/crimson-sunbird-hovering-to-harvest-nectar/>sometimes they even can hover like hummingbirds</a>). But reports of the sunbirds steeling the nectar from hibiscus without pollinating are found much more often (e.g. <a target=_blank href=http://www.besgroup.org/2009/01/17/olive-backed-sunbird-robbing-hibiscus-nectar/>one</a>, <a target=_blank href=http://www.besgroup.org/2007/11/18/hibiscus-and-nectar-harvest/>another one</a>), than <a target=_blank href=http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_8E2jfX9ow78/S5egKKQAR3I/AAAAAAAAARE/ick_e5j8-4c/s1600-h/birds-maurice-nagar+052.JPG>pictures</a> showing that the bird has some chance to get smudged in pollen if it sits on a branch next to the flower.
